I am a 43-year old mother of two. I gained weight after having children and though I
was active, the weight was holding me back. I wanted to avoid the complications
that come with obesity in my older age. I weighed 100kgs and people had
started
making comments on my weight gain.
That is when I decided that I had to do something about it. I decided to change my lifestyle. I started eating healthy and started running for an hour every morning and evening. My diet is balanced and consists of whole grains, unprocessed foods which
In October 2007 I ran in the Standard Chartered Marathon which was 5km. in 2008, I ran in the same marathon in 2008 but this time I ran 10km. This year I ran a 5000m race in Kisumu and where I was ranked number 7 out of 19 people. I'm feeling stronger now and by God's grace in May I will be running a 21km marathon in Mombasa.
I have
been able to shed 40kgs in the span of a year and have kept it off. I believe that it
is never too late to start taking care of your health. Surround yourself with positive
people and look to God for He is the One that fashioned our bodies. He will see you through
your journey and help you overcome the temptation to give up or give in. I plan to continue
living well and running for a long, long time to come.
